Babies everywhere

So in the past couple weeks it seems that everyone around me is pregnant.  My friends Adrian from high school is pregnant with her first.  My friends Kelsey and Lacie from Church back home are pregnant.  My two best friends, Jamie and Shannon, from college are pregnant with their firsts.   My friends Codee from ARC Inst is preggs with her second. My little sister Mary is pregnant with her first.  Two of my friends from here, Chiara and Emily, are about to pop any day now.  I know that when I was preggers I got pretty sick of all the advice, tips, stories, tidbits, predictions and helpful hints.  So I have been pretty good about not offering up unless asked.  Well Since you asked here are things that surprised me about pregnancy and motherhood.
1.  Farting in public is still gross even when you are pregnant.
2.  When they lay the baby on your chest as soon as he is born, he really stinks.
3.  Your hair falls out at about 3 months after the baby is born.
4.  You can use being pregnant as an excuse for anything: spending money, eating too much, eating crap, not excercising, not getting things done at work. you name it.
5.  Write everything down, because you can't remember anything.
6.  Take hand me downs, even if you don't use them it makes the person who gave them to you feel helpful.
7.  while pregnant: Sleep now or forever hold your zzzzzz'z, at least the first several months
8.  Shopping for girls is way more fun than shopping for boys.
9.  castor oil, sex, spicy food, exercise, pressure points.  None of it works to make you go into labor.
10.  For months after the delivery sometimes you just pee a little and can't help it.
11.  You don't really get that "moment" when it is all worth it and you instantly fall in love with this tiny little baby.  Most women i know had that moment weeks later.  You are not a  bad mom
12. you will get that moment.  And it will just about make 1-11 totally worth it.

One of the other things that changes when you become a mom

Cosmo, UsWeekly and Intouch.  Those were my magazines.  I would look forward to getting these magazines every week. UsWeekly always came on Fridays.  Friday was the day that I would come home from work get the mail and head to the tub to take a hot bath and catch up with my old friends.  How were Brad and Jennifer doing?  What about Nick and Jessica.  And did Paris get into trouble again, what am I going to do with her.  If you were to go into my bathroom and go through my magazines right now today you would find subscriptions to : American Baby, Parents, Parenting, Family Fun, BabyTalk, Family Circle and yes, Better Home and Gardens ( I don't even read that one).  And as if that were not enough i got a flyer for a new magazine Cookie (which by the way is way cool, think Vogue and Elle meet Parenting Magazine).  And if that were not enough I use some of the ideas in them, and so do my friends.  Babbi came over for dinner a couple of weeks before Christmas and had made these nutterbutter reindeer cookies I was planning to make with Roxy.  Well I am not have any idea who is married to who and is it right that I heard the Lindsey Lohan is a lesbian now, but I will always know 35 things to play in the car to keep my kids happy, 15 tricks to get my kids to eat there vegetables  and I will have helpful hints to keep my marriage spicy.

The best of 2008

So the best thing to come out of 2008 is Roscoe.  This kid is so hilarious and makes us laugh all the time.  One of the many great things about him is that the happier he is the bigger his mouth gets.  It makes for really great pictures.

Christmas at the Hamms

Roxy got the thing she wanted most, a doll.  Here she is changing her.

It was a generous Christmas in the Hamm House
Couple of days ago but still so cute

Roxy got this awesome doll, but was kind of scared of her.  You can stick your arms in her arms and shes a puppet.  Totally cool to me, but a little scary to Roxanne
Yeah, he scored a basket

My little man was really tired

SO for the Hamm House we celebrated Christmas a little bit late.  Richs mom flew out on Friday so we made Christmas on Saturday for us.  It was totally worth the wait to have more family here.  We had a blast opening presents for hours.  There were probably a few too many presents this year, but what are you going to do.  Roxy and Roscoe got everything that they could have asked for and then a little extra, thank you to everyone who shipped presents out here.

Day 4, 5, and 6

Well she has been doing really well. But the problem now is the Holidays.  Whenever we leave to go somewhere we put a diaper on her.  As long as we are home she is in panties and stays dries, but when we leave we put the diaper on.  We should be staying home the next few days so lets hope she keeps up the good work.
